AfroWeightloss

A little about myself

My name is Lovelyn Appiah, I am a 30 year old wife and mummy of 2 little girls.

I have struggled with weight gain since I was 19 years old, so it’s been 11 long years and I finally came to the point of being completely fed up with all the diets and methods that I have tried (and trust me I have tried a lot). The most important part of weight loss is the food we consume and it seemed, each time I would research WHAT TO EAT TO LOSE WEIGHT (have you ever Googled that? lol) all the foods that would pop up meant that I could no longer eat ANY of the foods that me and my family used to eat and that were mainly Ghanaian/African inspired. The first thought that would come to my mind is ‘So African food is the enemy? No more fried rice, no more sweet plantain, no more Fufu, no more soups and stews?????’

Well for 11 years I accepted that thought, but after failing countless diets that had tasteless food and forced me to cook differently from the rest of my family (talk about adding work on top work), I was truly tired, fed up and frustrated…..

THERE HAD TO BE ANOTHER WAY!

This is the origin of AfroWeightloss, because I refuse to believe that the food a WHOLE continent feeds on is bad for our health, when we have fields and trees full of the most nourishing vegetables and fruits (that cannot even be found in Europe or Abroad and that we beg family members to hide in suitcases just so we can have a bite and reminisce (that juicy mango from Ghana though lol)).

So what is the problem? I believe, portion sizes, carbohydrate to vegetable proportions and cooking style (oil upon oil) can be responsible for gaining weight on an African diet. But that can easily be corrected and that is what I hope I have achieved with the AfroWeightloss program.

So let’s put things back into perspective: NO, African food is NOT the enemy; we actually have an arsenal of the most nutrient rich ingredients on our beautiful continent, so let’s use them to our benefit and claim back our health.
